Terms & Conditions
1. General
These Terms & Conditions apply to all electrical services carried out by [Your Name / Trading Name], a self-employed industrial electrician (“the Contractor”), for the client (“the Customer”). By booking services, the Customer agrees to these Terms.
2. Scope of Work
All work will be carried out as agreed in writing or verbally between the Contractor and the Customer. Any changes to the scope of work may result in additional charges.
3. Estimates & Pricing
- Estimates provided are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
- Final costs may vary if unforeseen issues arise or if additional work is requested.
- All prices are quoted exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.
4. Payment Terms
- Payment is due upon completion of work, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Weekly Payment might be required where the project is taking longer.
- Deposits may be required for larger projects.
- Late payments may incur interest charges under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
5. Health & Safety
The Contractor will carry out all work in accordance with current UK health and safety legislation. The Customer must ensure that the working area is safe and accessible.
6. Customer Responsibilities
- Provide access to the premises at agreed times.
- Ensure all required permissions and consents are obtained before work begins.
- Remove any obstacles that may prevent safe working conditions.
7. Working Away from Home
Where the Contractor is required to work at a location that is not within reasonable daily travelling distance of their home address, suitable accommodation shall be provided and covered by the Customer, unless otherwise agreed in writing prior to the commencement of work.
8. Day Rate & Travel Expenses
- A standard day rate of [£250 per day] may apply for work requiring extended travel or overnight stays.
- Mileage will be charged at the prevailing HMRC rate per mile (currently 45p per mile, subject to change).
- Other travel costs, including train, bus, taxi, ferry, or airfare, shall be reimbursed by the Customer at cost, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Parking charges, congestion charges, or tolls incurred during the course of work shall also be reimbursed by the Customer.
- Pre-Payment might be required.
9. Liability & Insurance
- The Contractor holds appropriate public liability insurance.
- The Contractor is not liable for pre-existing faults or damage caused by others.
- The Contractor will not be liable for delays caused by factors beyond their reasonable control.
10. Warranty of Work
- All workmanship is guaranteed for [12 months] from the date of completion unless otherwise agreed.
- Manufacturer warranties apply to any materials or products supplied.
- This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, lack of maintenance, or interference by third parties.
11. Cancellations & Delays
- The Customer must provide at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation.
- Short-notice cancellations may incur a charge.
- The Contractor reserves the right to reschedule work due to unforeseen circumstances.
12. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
